Getting over the hump.

Have you ever made a to-do list in your head only to find yourself stuck on the first item at 10PM? Yup, we’ve all been there....

If you are a person who procrastinates on tasks they don’t really want to do, then read on to learn how to get over the hump:

  • Keep your daily list SHORT: unless you are in some crunch time and have a deadline, make a short and sweet list of daily tasks - honestly, 3-4 items is PLENTY to not feel overwhelmed, and have a real shot at getting everything checked off.
  • START WITH EASY/fast items: when you can knock off items on your list without much effort, it gives your a boost of motivation to tackle more complex tasks.
  • Be FLEXIBLE: when our plans don’t work out the way we pictured them in our heads, the frustration we experience comes mainly from a failed expectation, rather than the event itself. If you were planning to have a nice 1hr workout, but your kid had a different nap plan that day - well, c’est la vie…. But instead of skipping a work out all together, get down for a quick 20 min! It’s all good, life happens, and you still worked out (✓ off your list).
  • Keep it SIMPLE and prioritize: it may be discouraging not to accomplish your list day after day, so keeping it simple and realistic is a best way to stay consistent.

At the end of the day, do what works for you. And remember - practice makes perfect!
